Andrea

When did you join CCB?:
I joined in June 2015. I had played while I was at school and had a couple of attempts at restarting over the years but I wanted to start playing regularly so I emailed the band. They were extremely patient while I got my lip in and we have never looked back since!

Position at CCB:
2nd Trombone

Do you play any other instruments?:
I play the piano as well.

Are you a member of any other musical ensembles?:
Joining Crewe Concert Band introduced me to lots of other musicians and I have since joined the Trent River Big Band, Alsager U3A Orchestra and I play as a guest to support a few more ensembles as required.

What is your favourite piece of music from our repertoire?:
I love the Blues Brothers Medley. It’s got some excellent glissandos in for the trombone section.

What do you enjoy most about CCB?:
You could not wish to meet a more friendly and welcoming bunch of people. I also always enjoy the tea, biscuits and a good chat in the break.

When did you join CCB?:
At the age of 33 I joined CCB, then known as Crewe West End Concert Band, which was under the baton of David Thomas. My son, Chris, also plays with CCB on euphonium.

Position at CCB:
Bass Clarinet

Do you play any other instruments?:
 The Oboe, albeit very badly!

Tell us a bit about yourself: I am a Dad to 2 children, Lilly and Harry, who sometimes enjoy coming and listening to rehearsals, or running around on the stage during the break, I’m not quite sure which. Being a bit of a railway enthusiast I’ve worked for Network Rail as a Signaller since 2006, before that I was a carriage fitter for the East Lancs Railway in Bury. Outside of the band I enjoy spending time with my children and working on my Car. Random fact about me – Richard the band Chairman and myself have been friends since we were both 9 months old.

When did you join CCB?: I originally joined CCB around 1998 whilst I was in High School, my Mum also plays for the band so I came along too. I had a gap of a couple of years when I moved up to Bury but re-joined in 2010. I became a Committe Member in 2017.

Position at CCB: Euphonium

Do you play any other instruments?: No, although I do have a Bass Guitar which I’d like to learn, and I have played Keyboard & Piano in the past.

Are you a member of any other musical ensembles?: Nowadays just CCB. I used to play with the Nantwich band many years ago and I was in 3 Bands at High School.

What is your favourite piece of music from our repertoire?: At the moment it is The Eve of War from War of the Worlds, I’ve always loved the original.

What do you enjoy most about CCB?: I love the fact that the band is such an enjoyable place to be and the Band Members all have a good laugh, oh and I get fed biscuits at break time!

Heather
Treasurer

Tell us a bit about yourself: I'm mum to two train-mad boys and my husband is a train driver, so Band is my chance to escape from the trains! We had the honour of the band playing at our wedding in 2012.

When did you join CCB?:
I joined in 2006 and became a Committee Member in 2008.

Position at CCB: 1st Flute

What is your favourite piece of music from our repertoire?: I can't pick just one as there are so many that I love! But my current top 5 would be Blues Brothers Review, The Eve of the War, Skyfall, Queen in Concert, and Army of the Nile March.

What do you enjoy most about CCB?:
Rehearsals can be challenging at times, but the atmosphere is fantastic so it's always fun. I've made friends for life through joining CCB and would encourage anyone who is thinking of joining to do so!
