Crewe Concert Band Appoints Tom Hancock as Musical Director
Following a period of recruitment, auditions and a band vote, we are delighted to welcome Tom Hancock as our new Musical Director.
Crewe Concert Band has been part of the local musical community for over 40 years, and we are proud to provide an opportunity for wind musicians to come together, make music and be part of a friendly and welcoming community organisation.
In seeking a permanent Musical Director, we were looking for someone who could provide stability, support the musical development of the Band and help us build a positive and enjoyable future together, ensuring that Crewe Concert Band continues to thrive for many years to come.
Tom’s appointment builds on everything we have achieved as a band so far, and we look forward to developing our playing, introducing exciting new repertoire and continuing to bring the joy of music to our members and the wider community.
The Committee would like to thank all our members for their patience, support and commitment in recent months. We know how important the Band is to you and we are grateful for the way in which you have approached the recruitment and audition process, for sharing your views and supporting the Committee along the way.
Finally, we would like to thank everyone who expressed an interest in the role and took the time to meet with us.

Speaking on his appointment Tom said “I’m delighted to be joining Crewe Concert Band. While most of my experience has been in the brass band world, I’m excited by the opportunity to bring that experience to a new setting and make a positive difference to the Band. From the moment I walked into the Bandroom, I was made incredibly welcome. Everyone has been fantastic, and I’m really looking forward to making music together and seeing what we can achieve.”
